BREAK THROUGH!

Hey all you (very informed) muggles out there! WOW... it has been FOREVER since my last post. Sorry I do not know where the time went! You know how a while ago I was complaining about the blockheads out there who refuse to even look at and HP book? Well, I have finally made a break through with one of those (now former) blockheads. I finally got a person I know to read the first HP book, and trust me he was leading the campaign about the HP books and movies. After a week of describing how wonderful the Hp books are, he finally broke down and agreed to read. I even let him borrow my (very battered) copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I am a little upset just because his progress is slow, but he is a slow reader so I will give him some time. Personally, I don't know how he could not finish such a wonderful book like that it about 2 hours-- I know I did! If any of you have friends out there who are very anti- Harry Potter, then you may find the following tips helpful: always talk about hpw good it is, explain why the book appeals to you, have the person watch the movie, and tell them what they would like about it. That is how I got my former blockhead friend to read the first HP books. After reading the first 7 chapters this is what he had to say:

"It was a lot better than I thought it would be! I thought you were exaggerating before when you were talking about how good it is, but now I realize that your explanation did not do it justice!"

Anyway folkes, just try those technics and you could probably entice any blockhead into reading the HP series. Well, I'm done for now. Sleep tight, and don't let the Death Eaters bite!

The Best Harry Potter Movie Yet! SPOILER ALERT!

The movie was UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! It was by far the best Harry Potter movie yet! I wish it was longer! My Only qualms about the movie was that they did not show Dumbledore's funeral. The part where Dumbledore died was soo sad, I was about to cry! Even though I new everything that was going to happen I was still very very very into the movie! All 2 hours and 33 minutes of that film were pure gold!!! A round of applause to the director: David Yates, Dan Radcliff, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint and every other cast member in the movie. Of course we must also applaud J.K. Rowling, without her we would not have this SPECTACULAR movie! HBP was definitley the best HP movie EVER!!!

Prisoner of Azkaban vs. Half Blood Prince vs. Deathly Hallows

Ok, we all know just how wonderful the Harry Potter books are. We also know how hard it is to pick our favorite book out of all seven books. Whenever I am asked to pick my favorite HP book, I simply can not decide! When I really think about it I am able to narrow it down to Prisoner of Azkaban, Half Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows. Each book has different components that make it wonderful, so it is very hard to decide. In Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows, Harry, Ron and Hermione are older so there is more tension from blossoming romances. In Prisoner of Azkaban Ron is upset with Hermione, so by association Harry is mad at Hermione, too. It is true, however, that Ron is upset with Hermione in Half Blood Prince, but Harry and Hermione are still close and Hermione and Ron make up in the end; therefore, Half Blood Prince is better than Prisoner of Azkaban. Now that we have narrowed it down to Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows, we have to really think about each part of the books. Half Blood Prince is very good, but it is slightly annoying how Ron and Hermione will not talk to each other for half the book. In Deathly Hallows Ron and Hermione barely talk at one point, but they make up and end up kissing, which is bonus. In DH Ron annoys us all by walking out on Harry and Hermione but he does try to come back and he makes it up to them by saving Harry. In HBP Ron is being annoying with his fake romance with Lavender Brown. We all know he was just trying to make Hermione jealous. In the end, I think we have to choose Deathly Hallows of Half Blood Prince. Deathly Hallows has more to it than Half Blood Prince. In DH is when we finally see the downfall of Lord Voldemort and when we find out the futures of Harry, Ginny, Ron aand Hermione. Deathly Hallows, as the last book in the Harry Potter Series, was meant to be the best book in the whole series. I believe that J.K. Rowling meant for this to happen. What better way to end the series then by good beating evil and the heroes ending up with their soul mates? Yes, Deathly Hallows is the clear winner. If you have something you would like to say about this post pleas feel free to comment; whether you agree or disagree I would like to hear your thoughts. Have a nice day!

All About Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is about the rising rebellion against Voldemort that we begin to see forming in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Lord Voldemort and his army of devoted Death Eaters are killing everyone that is one of the following: muggle-borns (I refuse to use that foul word that Malfoy loves to call Hermione in lieu of her name!), blood traitors (pure bloods who do not join Voldemort’s cause; the Weasley family is a good example of this term), half-bloods (those who have either 1 magical parent and 1 muggle parent or both magical parents 1 of which that is of muggle parentage. i.e.: Harry), innocent muggles (non-magic people), or anybody who does not fall under the pure-blood status. Coincidentally, in this movie we find out that Lord Voldemort, who is leading the charge against all non-pure-bloods, is not even a pure-blood (though he likes to keep this a secret!). We also find out at the end of this book that Severus Snape, who is possibly Voldemort’s right hand man, is a half-blood, too. This book is about Harry and Dumbledore’s effort to kill the rising Lord Voldemort. In HBP we learn a new term: Horcruxes. A Horcrux is a hiding place for a piece of your soul. A Horcrux is very dark magic that is not widely known about in the wizarding world. A Horcrux is made by ripping your soul apart by murdering someone, and then using dark magic to transfer a piece of your soul into an object. While a Horcrux is intact you can not die because a Horcrux anchors your soul to the world. We find out in HBP that not only did Lord Voldemort make one Horcrux, he made seven! HBP turns into Dumbledore and Harry’s quest to destroy Horcruxes and learn about Voldemort’s past because his past holds the key to finding his Horcruxes, and destroying the Horcruxes leads to Voldemort’s death. The idea of Horcruxes carries us into what happens in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
While HBP definitely has a very serious side, it does provide some comic relief. Young romance is blossoming in the now very dismal halls of Hogwarts. Harry tries to fight his feelings for Ginny Weasley (Ron’s sister), because he does not want Ron to get mad at him for dating his sister. Hermione and Ron very obviously have feelings for each other, but Ron ends up with a young lady named Lavender Brown, leaving Hermione heartbroken. In retaliation Hermione invites Cormac McLaggen, who happens to be Ron’s rival (coincidence?), to the dance. While Harry and Ginny are trying to suppress their feelings, girls all over Hogwarts are going crazy for Harry. One, Romilda Vane tries to slip Harry love potion which reaches Ron instead, OOPS! Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is definitely shaping up to be the best HP movie yet!

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

As most of us already know, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (also known as HBP and HP6) is premiering tonight at midnight. It officially comes out to theaters everywhere on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. HBP is the most highly anticipated Harry Potter film yet. It was originally set to be released last November, but in August it was announced that Warner Bros. was moving the date to July 15th. This greatly upset many Harry Potter fans, myself included, who were just dying to see the movie. Furthermore, Twilight took Harry Potter’s original November release date to be there own, which did nothing to help die-hard Potter fans reel in their anger. While Twilight might be a good book, in most die-hard Potter fans’ opinions it will never compare to HP. What J.K. Rowling created in her expertly written books can never be reproduced. Those who claim that Harry Potter is some lame rip off of books such as Star Wars (I never did see how some people think the plot of Harry Potter is like Star Wars- I have heard that comparison several times before, though) fail to grasp the true meaning of what Harry Potter is all about. These wonderful books (and movies!) are about more than just a young wizard with a scar on his forehead. These books carry the time-old good vs. evil theme in ways never seen before. Not only is it about good vs. evil, though. It incorporates romance, friendship, family, the importance of learning, courage, bravery, and so many other things in ways only Harry Potter can make work. It is not just a child’s book; people of every age read and love these books that will surely become classics. Those who dislike the Harry Potter books/ movies are either:
a) to lazy to read the wonderful books
b) can’t quite comprehend the well written books
c) are ridiculous because they think it is weird for no reason!
You would be surprised by the amount of people who do not read the books because they are lazy, and in result they think HP is weird because they saw the movie and did not quite understand it. Others try reading the books but can not comprehend what J.K. is saying because they simply are not trying to comprehend what she is saying. Well, I hope you thoroughly enjoy seeing Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince; hopefully it will be the best HP film yet!
